Japanese drums break the silence and create strong beats. Upon the appearance of these drums, three large torches four meters long weighing approx. 200 kilograms are lit. Young men carry the torches and ignite smaller torches held by participants one after another while courageously walking up and down the long stone steps in the shrine. This festival is designated as an intangible folklore cultural asset of Fukuyama city.
